Do This Summer!
1. Swing off the trapeze at the Burger’s Lake swimming hole.
2. Spend the night outdoors watching a free movie at Addison Circle Park.
3. Climb the rock wall. Do the obstacle course at Kaboom Town 2008, July 3, in Addison Circle Park.
4. Dance to a free jazz concert in Esplanade Park, Monday nights in July.
5. Catch celebrity performance while walking through the Nasher Sculpture Center during Saturday Night in the City, happening the first Saturday of every month.
6. Time your self running at a local track. Can you get faster by the end of the summer?
7. Spend the day exploring Texas Town, a re-created pioneer town in the Dallas Arboretum.
8. Get a magnificent view of your city from the 55th floor of Reunion Tower. How many flights can you climb?
9. Test your watermelon seed spitting skills and enjoy a free slice at the Grapevine Summer Nights Series, July 21.
10. Windy Day? Fly a kite in your backyard or at a near-by park.
11. Pack a healthy picnic to enjoy while watching a free performance of Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors… performed using life size puppets! July 25-30 at Samuell Grand Amphitheater
12. Christmas in July? Meet Santa and skate for free at Addison Square Garden Ice Rink on July 9.
13. See how high you can jump in The Bounce House while listening to the Dallas Symphony Orchestra during Family Fun Night, June 3. It’s, at the Fretz Recreation Center.
14. Raining? Meet at a friend’s house and make up a work-out routine to your favorite song.
15. By the end of the summer, add up to walking or running a grand total of 9.33 miles around White Rock Lake.
16. Explore the Gallery of Sports Art at Ameriquest Field. Find a new sport you want to learn.
17. Make your own trail mix using whole grain cereal, dried fruit and nuts.
18. View music and dance shows at the Dallas City Arts Festival, June 13-15. Combine all the moves you see to make up your own dance!
19. Try the high dive at your local pool.
20. Play the day away at Fantasy Landing. It has wheelchair accessible ramps, and brightly colored paths for the visually impaired. All children can play together!
21. With a parent’s help, make a summer smoothie by blending yogurt, fruit and ice.
22. Give your fingers a work out while learning origami at the Crow Collection of Asian Art’s free Adventure Asia program on July 22.
23. Have a hula-hoop contest with your friends.
24. Spend the day walking around the Dallas Zoo. Don’t miss this summer’s sting ray exhibit!
25. Roam through ten miles of hike and bike trails and search for T-Rex footprints at Dinosaur Valley State Park.
26. Pour your favorite juice in a paper cup. Stick in a Popsicle stick. Place in the freezer – who needs the “ice cream man” for a cold treat?
